You Looking At Me

Arcade Arts, Carlisle

December 2008

The performance was in an empty shop and was mediated through film that was projected live on the opening night of this exhibition. The spy holes provided the proof that the camera was filming me live. The installation resulting from the live action continued to be visible through the spy-holes while the now recorded performance was projected onto the window.
The work is site-specific to this shop – a public space in which I am making private acts of dressing and undressing and using mirrors to look at myself, and the camera lens to give the illusion that I am looking at you. In fact of course, it is you looking at me.
