This was the second performance as part of my work called Territories. I used a prepared computer generated ‘map’ of five different locations that had meaningful resonances for me in Suffolk prior to 1991. Prior to the performance I had collected earth (or beach sand) from each location. I opened the labelled bags containing the earth and made a pile of it on the ground, located each source on the map and rubber-stamped the spot. With all bags emptied, I urinated on the earth pile, mixed it together and then put some back in each of the bags before leaving the space to distribute the earth back to each original location.
