Mapping Memory
Since 2009 I have been collaborating with writer Kate Swindlehurst on a project we call ‘Mapping Memory’, inspired by my ‘All the Wool My Mother Never Knitted’ work. Discovering that our lives since childhood had shared many similarities and we had even at different points spent time in the in the same locations, we began exploring these overlaps in a series of conversations and written exchanges. This led to an attempt to design and create a series of three dimensional models of our overlapping histories, such that our distinct paths could be seen simultaneously. Comparing our timelines highlighted the correspondences and divergences. The project has continued to grow and now has its own website: www.mappingmemory.co.uk
